She leaves her position after the appointment of the new CEO of the new configuration of CAMEG, Eric Nakaossebgandin Toougouma appointed by the Council of Ministers on March 27, 2024. A look back at the atypical career path of Dr. Anne Maryse K'haboré.

It was in 2018, more precisely on Monday June 4, that Dr Anne Maryse K'haboré was officially installed in her role as general director of the Central Purchasing of Generic Essential Medicines and Medical Consumables (CAMEG). As the first person in charge of this institution, she will work hard to tackle certain bottlenecks which prevent the institution from being efficient. Indeed, from 2016 to 2017, CAMEG went through a political-legal-judicial crisis. This crisis was followed by a transition period of more than a year. The appointment of Dr Anne Maryse K’haboré as head of CAMEG put the purchasing center back on its feet in order to reach its highest level of development. But before beginning this long and perilous mission which has been assigned to her, she should clear up any ambiguity regarding her appointment. At that time, unfounded interpretations attributed his position to a supposed family connection with former President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré. To respond to her “detractors” to this unfounded controversy, Dame Anne Maryse K’haboré suggested that these rumors are a sign of a democratic country where everyone can express themselves. It therefore cut short speculation, rumors and controversies. Very quickly, the pharmacist got to work on what she was appointed for.

At CAMEG, Dr Anne Maryse K’haboré implemented a dynamic of active participation of all staff during her 6 years of good and loyal service to CAMEG. Thanks to her values of transparency, good governance and participatory management of equity, she was able to revitalize CAMEG and create a family with the workers who believed in her and gave her the necessary support to achieve the objectives of the institution. In her opinion, as a female leader, she had no room for error.

Also, it has elevated the institution to the rank of the best purchasing centers for essential generic medicines and medical consumables in the sub-region, thus making it a textbook case almost everywhere in Africa. The new CEO of the new configuration of CAMEG, Eric Nakaossebgandin Tougouma, when he took office on Wednesday April 3, 2024, recognized this by saluting the work done by Dr Anne Maryse K'haboré and all of her predecessors who, over time, have contributed to building this institution which ensures the supply of quality medicines and consumables. Regarding Dr Anne Maryse K'haboré, the new CEO of CAMEG confided that she is a visionary Amazon who brought quality management to the development of her structure.

So much well-deserved prowess and determination from a “visionary Amazon”, in the words of his successor Eric Nakaossebgandin Tougouma.
